Vignoble Coteau Saint-Paul
Québec family estate making artisanal wines and ciders with fresh, distinctive terroir-driven expression.
Québec, Canada
Vignoble Coteau Saint-Paul sits on the southern slope of Mont Yamaska in Saint-Paul-d'Abbotsford, in Québec's Montérégie. Founded by Jean-Guy Gosselin, who planted the first vines and started its ice cider, the estate was bought in 2018 by Nicolas Pomerleau and his family. Nicolas had worked at the vineyard as a student before studying agri-food technology and agricultural economics.
The new owners expanded the vineyard from about 15,000 to 20,000 vines of eleven hybrid varieties, with apple trees on about a third of the land. Since 2020 the estate has used no synthetic products, converting to organic practices in both vineyard and cellar, and Nicolas describes the slope as a stronghold of biodiversity. Alongside its wines it makes ice cider, flavoured ciders and an ice apple mistelle.
